Gardaí in Tipperary are warning members of the public to disregard “misinformation” concerning the alleged suspension of multiple members for “criminal behavior”.

In social media posts, the Tipperary division of An Garda Síochána outlined that the allegations are “false and damaging to the hard working gardaí” serving in the “Tipperary South Community Engagement Area” (TSCE).

The statement continued that An Garda Síochána can confirm that there are currently “no gardaí suspended from duty” in relation to any incidents of criminal behaviour in the TSCE area, which includes Cahir Garda Station.

“Misinformation, disinformation, and fake news risks diverting Garda resources and time from ongoing investigations. At the most insidious level (such activities) are typically amplified by multiple accounts in order to spread concern within communities,” it said.

The garda division urged the public to independently verify any content that they are viewing or reading on social media and/or messaging apps.
