The Big Scream Seniors Halloween Art Exhibition opened in Dublin on Thursday as part of the annual Big Scream festival.

The exhibition will show artwork by older people at the Lourdes Day Care Centre on Lower Sean McDermott Street.

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, launched the festival.

Speaking on Newstalk, centre manager Gillian Collins said: "It's great to have the senior members involved in the festival because sometimes they're sort of a little bit forgotten about, because we think Halloween is all for the young people dressing up."

She said that they have produced some "very talented work".

The Big Scream Festival, organised by the Dublin City Community Co-op with the support of NEIC (North East Inner City) and Dublin City Council, features seventeen activities and events across Dublin 1.

The festival runs from October 24th to October 31st, and includes haunted walking tours, carnival cookery, spooky cinema, and a funfair, among others.

A full list of the programme can be viewed here.
