Redundancies planned at Irish base of US cloud giant Salesforce

American cloud software giant Salesforce is to cut jobs at its Irish base.

The exact number of redundancies is not known, though it is understood that the Department of Enterprise was sent a collective redundancy notification by the company on Tuesday.

Per the Protection of Employment Act 1977, companies with more than 300 staff members here are obliged to inform the Department of Enterprise if they are proposing to make more than 30 staff redundant.

Salesforce employs more than 2,500 people in Ireland.

Last week, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said that the company had plans to reduce its number of customer support staff from 9,000 to around 5,000 as it leans more heavily into its use of Artificial Intelligence.

“I was able to rebalance my headcount on my support. I reduced it from 9,000 heads to about 5,000 because I needed fewer heads,” Mr Benioff said on the Logan Bartlett Podcast.

Salesforce's European headquarters have been located in Dublin City since 2000. As of the beginning of 2025, Salesforce employed around 76,000 people worldwide.
