A man aged in his 20s has died in a motorway crash in Cork, gardaí said.

The single-vehicle collision happened on the M8 motorway, Upper Riverstown in Glanmire on Wednesday at about 6.50am.

The man was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. He was pronounced dead on Wednesday afternoon.

The road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 6.40am and 7.15am on Wednesday are asked to make the footage available to investigating gardaí.
