A total of 300,000 people attended different events across Dublin city last weekend, according to gardaí.

They helped to keep more than 300,000 people safe at 12 major events across Dublin City over the past weekend.

Over the duration of the weekend, an average of over 100,000 vehicles travelled on the M50 daily, while some 370,000 passengers travelled through Dublin Airport between Friday and Sunday alone.

Many of these international visitors arrived in Dublin to attend the multiple concerts including US country singer Zach Bryan at Phoenix Park and Irish group Kingfishr at Fairview Park.

Along with this there was the British and Irish Lions game against Argentina which was a sell-out at the Aviva Stadium with over 51,700 fans in attendance.

Along with these events, thousands also came into the city centre to shop, socialise with friends and enjoy the good weather.

An Garda Síochána’s high-visibility policing plan, which has been in place for sometime now, helped to ensure that those in the city as well as those attending each of the large number of public events, were all safe and the weekend went off without major incident.

They put in place traffic management plans to support the various public events to keep the traffic disruption to a minimum.

They were pleased to see most people utilised public transport services including Dublin Bus, LUAS and Irish Rail, and that people followed the guidance to plan their journey into the city in advance.

Speaking this morning, assistant commissioner for Dublin, Paul Cleary said, "Over the weekend, gardaí worked outside of their regular duties to help keep over 300,000 people safe as they attended public events over the weekend in Dublin.

"The past weekend’s co-ordinated activity shows more than ever that Dublin is a safe, vibrant city with lots to offer. Each of our partner agencies and stakeholders play their part with us – from policing, to efficient public transport services, the strong business and hospitality community, the city council’s street cleaning and well organised events for all ages.

"It is crucially important that as Ireland’s national police and security service, our high-visibility presence reassures everyone that we are here to help make sure they have a positive experience of our capital city.

"This summer’s public events would not be able to go ahead were it not for the Gardaí that worked above and beyond over the past weekend and for the remainder of the summer so that everyone enjoys themselves safely and while mindful of one another.”
