A man has been arrested in relation to the murder investigation into the death of a woman in Co Cork last week.

Paula Canty, 31, was found dead at a home in Bridewell Lane in Mallow on Friday.

A murder probe was launched following the results of a post-mortem examination, the results of which are not being released by gardai for operational reasons.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and is being detained at a Garda station in the south of the country under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
