Gardaí will meet on Wednesday to discuss how to proceed with the Kyran Durnin murder investigation.

It comes after a man, questioned and released about the case only last week, was found dead and a note was found.

Foul play is not suspected in the death of Anthony Maguire, whose body was discovered at his Drogheda home on Tuesday.

Kyran Durnin - who would now be eight years old - is thought to have been murdered in 2022.

Speaking to Newstalk, crime and security editor with The Irish Times, Conor Lally, said gardaí are examining a note found at Mr Maguire's home:

"Certainly written material does appear to have been found at the property. You know, look, the guards will have to examine that to determine if it's a note that was left by Anthony Maguire and does it relate to his death and the reason why he took his own life or whether there's any other information in that," he said.

"But, all of that work will be undertaken today and over the next few days and just to see if there's anything of evidential value in Anthony Maguire's passing."
