A total of 426 admitted patients are waiting for beds in Irish hospitals this morning, according to today’s Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO Trolley Watch.

This includes 317 patients waiting in emergency departments, while 109 are in wards elsewhere in hospitals.

The most overcrowded hospital by far is University Hospital Limerick, where there are 90 patients waiting for beds. This includes 40 people on trolleys in the emergency department, and 50 in wards elsewhere.

University Hospital Limerick is followed by University Hospital Galway (34 patients), Cork University Hospital (33 patients), Mercy University Hospital, Cork (26 patients) and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda (21 patients).

After University Hospital Limerick, the most overcrowded emergency departments are Cork University Hospital, where all 33 patients waiting for beds are in A&E, University Hospital Galway (28 patients), and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where all the patients waiting for beds are in the emergency department.
