450 admitted patients were waiting for hospital beds on Thursday morning, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

The organisation's Trolley Watch recorded 324 patients waiting in emergency departments, while 126 wait in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

University Hospital Limerick has the most patients waiting on beds at 79. A total of 32 of these are in the emergency department and 47 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Following Limerick is University Hospital Galway, with 44 patients waiting for beds, followed by Cork University Hospital with 32.

31 patients are waiting in the emergency department of St Vincent's University Hospital while 20 wait at Tallaght University Hospital.

In Drogheda, 26 patients are waiting for beds at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, all of which are waiting in the emergency department.

Elsewhere, 22 patients are waiting for beds at both Sligo University Hospital and University Hospital Kerry, and 19 are waiting at Mayo University Hospital.

16 patients are waiting for beds at Beaumont Hospital, and 16 are waiting at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
