A man has been seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Sligo.

The incident happened on Pearse Road in Sligo Town shortly after 8pm on Thursday.

The driver and sole occupant of the car involved, a man in his 70s, was taken to Sligo University Hospital in serious condition.

There are currently road closures in place along Pearse Road and Mail Coach Road in the town, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses of the incident to come forward.

Any road users with camera footage from the Pearse Road area of the town between 8pm and 8.15pm on Thursday are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
