Gracie Abrams has apologised to her father J.J. Abrams for taking “years” off his life when she was a teenager.

The singer, 26, is to release her new album, Daughter From Hell, on July 17th and admitted she did not make things easy for her film producer father and TV producer mother, Katie McGrath.

Speaking to Capital FM’s Jordan North on A Very British Day Out, Abrams said: “At this stage in my life, I can only imagine if I had a child that was visibly in the middle of something halfway dark, I would’ve been kept up at night.

“I just feel quite bad for the adults in my life. I feel like I took years off their lives and they confirmed that’s true.”

She then apologised to her parents, adding: “Sorry mum, sorry dad.

“I do consistently think about this, as you evolve and come into yourself more, I want to apologise for being kind of non-verbal in high school sometimes.”

J.J. Abrams has produced multiple movies including the Star Wars films The Force Awakens and The Rise Of Skywalker.

His most recent project is the upcoming sci-fi film The End Of Oak Street, starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor.

Radio presenter North said he was also a troublemaker during his teenage years and he was suspended from school for swearing at his maths teacher.

North took Abrams to Poppies Fish & Chips in Soho, central London for a traditional British meal complete with battered sausages, gravy and mushy peas.

Abrams was very pleased with the meal and said: “This is already the best interview I’ve ever done. Let’s not talk about anything else.”

Asked which her favourite cities to perform in were, she named her hometown Los Angeles, New York City, and Manchester for its “unbelievable crowd”.

She said: “I’ve never spent time there outside of shows. I do feel the energy you get from a crowd is quite telling of a vibe of a city. They just go so hard.”

The singer, who is in a relationship with Irish actor Paul Mescal, will embark on the Look At My Life tour to support her album.

The tour will begin on December 2nd in Denver, Colorado and conclude on May 28th 2027 in Barcelona, Spain.
