Cork man appointed director of Europe's cyber security body

Corkman Eoin Byrne has been appointed to the European Cyber Security Organisation's board.

Cork man and Cyber Ireland cluster manager Eoin Byrne has been appointed to the board of directors of the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO).

A leading non-profit cybersecurity organisation in Europe, ECSO brings together businesses, public bodies, research organisations and academic institutions to strengthen cyber resilience across the continent.

The organisation works closely with the European Commission and plays a key role in shaping cybersecurity policy, supporting innovation and fostering cross border collaboration. Mr Byrne said he is looking forward to getting started with his new position.

“Cybersecurity is a challenge that no country can solve on its own. This appointment provides an opportunity to ensure that our experience and expertise are represented at European level.”

The appointment will help ensure Ireland has a stronger voice in discussions that influence the future of cybersecurity across Europe.
