Irish singer Róisín Murphy has led tributes to Crazy P frontwoman Danielle Moore, remembering her as “one of the most beautiful souls”.

The music artist died at the age of 52, according to reports, with the band announcing the “unbelievable and shocking news” in an Instagram post on Monday.

In a social media post, Mercury Prize-nominated musician Murphy, 51, described Moore as “an amazing singer, performer and songwriter”.

She said: “One of the most beautiful souls has left us.

“The brilliant Danielle Moore of Crazy P has died suddenly, and she has taken so much light with her.

“One of the best in music, an amazing person and an amazing singer, performer and songwriter.

“I know there will be a great sense of loss and mourning across our community.

“She touched everybody she met with light and love. Sending sincerest condolences to those friends and family closest to her.

“I, like so many, loved and admired her. RIP my Darling.”

The band announced Moore’s death in a post that said she had “died in sudden and tragic circumstances”.

“This happened on Friday afternoon, August 30th”, the post read.

“We cannot believe the news ourselves, and we know it will be the same for all of you. She gave us so much, and we love her so much.

“Our hearts are broken. We need time to process that this has happened.

“Danielle lived a life driven by love, compassion, community and music.

“She lived the biggest of lives. We will miss her with all our hearts X.”

In the comments of the post, singer Rowetta, most known for her work with the Happy Mondays, paid tribute.

“The saddest news,” she said.

“I am so so sorry to for your loss. One of the beautiful people I’ve ever met.”

Record producer Nightmares On Wax added: “Oh my! Sending all my love to Dani’s family and you all. Such a beautiful soul.”
