Going out? Your guide to what's happening in Cork this weekend
Sleaford mods play Cyprus Avenue on Saturday
: A flowing compendium of iconic songs from musicals which have flourished in New York and around the world. Songs from Phantom Of The Opera and Les Miserables are interlaced with songs from earlier musicals such as Cabaret, Camelot, My Fair Lady, and Westside Story, to name but a few. Also on Sunday at 2.30pm.
: Bovill established her reputation as one of Europe’s finest interpreters of French song with her smash-hit show, Piaf. She returns with Piaf Revisited and looks back on her remarkable journey with a self-penned fresh take. At the heart of the story is a young Glasgow girl, whose journey is interwoven with Piaf’s life.
: The week-long festival is launched with Olympia Quartet: Masterclass Quartet from Cork School of Music. There is a Rising Stars Concert at the venue at 3pm. See http://ortusfestival.ie for more events as part of the festival.
: A union of groove and guile, Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn are ruffling feathers and moving feet with their first new release as Sleaford Mods since 2023. €1.20 from every ticket sold will go to War Child.
: Funk arrangements of modern and classic pop anthems and a set that’s sure to keep the dance floor packed all night.
: Mick’s songs are fluent in expressing layered aspects of the human condition, its flaws, triumphs, and general uncertainty. His live shows are renowned for his self-deprecating humour, audience engagement and the ability to bring people on a journey of both heartbreak and joy, often in the same song.
: DJ Darren Kelly will make sure to keep you happy with his arrangement of hip hop, jazz, dance and disco.
Sunday
: Mick is a talented traditional/ contemporary solo act on vocals and guitar.
: Five-piece folk, rock and contemporary cover band from Kinsale with the perfect Sunday setlist.
: Described as a “darkly funny show”. Grace doesn’t fear death. Just back fat, fascism, and low-rise jeans.
: Join the trio for the launch of the venue’s new comedy club. A night of laughter, good banter, and an amazing line up.
: A playful, poignant love letter to cinema, Nouvelle Vague reimagines the making of Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless in an exuberant exploration of the youthful rebellion and creative chaos that shaped the French New Wave.
