UCC Demons head coach Stuart Rodgers' short tenure ended with an impressive 84-74 win over local rivals Ballincollig in the Men’s Super League at the MTU Arena at the weekend.
Rodgers informed the club last Monday night that, for personal reasons, he had decided to step down from his position as head coach of UCC Demons.
For coach Rodgers keeping his association with the club is still very much in his plans. He had worked with previous coach Danny O'Mahony and been involved with the club for a number of years in a host of roles.
"I remain fully committed to the club and may seek out alternative roles, but right now I cannot commit the time and energy to the role it demands and requires.
“I would like to thank the club for the opportunity and the honour to be Superleague coach and the players for their commitment and support, but right now I have to prioritise my time.
“I wish everyone the best of luck for the remainder of the season and will remain visible and supportive to the club and fully committed to my coaching journey but timing and circumstances unfortunately alter the best of plans."
Club chairman Michael O’Leary praised the former coach for his commitment.
“Stuart has made an unbelievable contribution to Demons over many years.
“His coaching journey with the club began in our juvenile section before progressing through to our U20s and ultimately to our Super League team.
“We would like to sincerely thank Stuart for his dedication, commitment and the huge contribution he has made to Demons throughout that time.
“Stuart will always be a valued member of the Demons family, and we wish him and his family nothing but the very best,” said O’Leary.
