Kilshannig 3-21 St Declan’s, Ardmore 0-14

Kilshanning cruised into the semi-final of the AIB Munster Club Junior Hurling Championship after a comfortable win over Ardmore at Glantane on Saturday.

From start to finish they never looked like losing and by half-time they were well in control as they led by 1-10 to 0-5.

Ardmore did mount a comeback at the start of the second half but Kilshanning’s second goal killed off their challenge as it put them 2-12 to 0-11 up and they never looked back from there.

Seamus Keating opened the scoring for Ardmore from a free, with Diarmuid O’Sullivan replying for Kilshanning from the restart.

The home side took the lead after five minutes when Jack Twomey pointed, before another Keating free had the sides level again, 0-2 each.

A quick free from Darragh O’Sullivan set up Colin Ruby for Kilshanning’s third point, with Tom Cunningham adding their fourth from the restart.

By now they were starting to dominate and with 20 minutes gone had their first goal chance.

Ruby played Twomey in but his effort was well saved by Jack Walsh.

Two minutes later and they did find the back of the net, when a free from Paddy Walsh came back off the upright.

Cunningham was quickest to react to the breaking ball to put his side 1-7 to 0-4 in front.

Kieran Twomey added a point from a 65, with Walsh on target to put Kilshannig 1-9 to 0-4 in front.

John O’Brien replied for Ardmore, with Twomey getting the last score of the half as Kilshannig deservedly went in 1-10 to 0-5 in front.

Walsh got the first score of the second half, with Keating replying for Ardmore.

Andy Hourigan pointed for Kilshannig, before Ardmore hit five without reply to close the gap.

Seamus Keating hit three of them, with Ciaran Keating getting the other two.

But with 45 minutes gone Kilshannig got their second goal, with Cunningham setting up Ryan Crowley to score.

Kieran added points from a free and a 65, with Bill Curtin, Crowley and David Guiney all on target, to make it 2-17 to 0-12.

With 52 minutes gone Kilshannig got their third goal, when a free from Walsh slipped through the hands of the Ardmore keeper to land in the back of the net.

Late on former Waterford hurler Declan Prendergast was sent off for a second yellow-card offence but it mattered little at that stage. Three late points from Walsh added to their tally as they ran out comfortable winners.
