The Cork minor footballers continued a whirlwind week of celebrations on Thursday when they arrived at Cork University Hospital (CUH) with the Munster and All-Ireland trophies in hand.
Just days after their superb All-Ireland MFC victory, the squad made a point of sharing the moment with patients and staff who have long supported Cork teams from afar.
Manager Keith Ricken and captain Joe Miskella led the group through the Children’s Ward and the Stroke Unit, where the players spent time chatting, posing for photos and offering a welcome distraction to those receiving care.
The sight of the trophies — and the energy of a young team still buzzing from their achievement — brought smiles across both units, with families and staff taking the chance to meet the players and congratulate them.
The visit was coordinated by Alison Harvey from the Office of the Chief Executive at CUH, who ensured the team were warmly received throughout their time in the hospital.

Staff members spoke of their pride in the minors’ success and their appreciation for the gesture, noting how uplifting it was for patients to experience a moment of celebration in the middle of their treatment routines.
For the players, the afternoon was an opportunity to acknowledge the wider community that supports Cork football.
Their All-Ireland win has sparked huge excitement across the county, but Thursday’s visit showed a group conscious of the responsibility that comes with representing Cork — on and off the pitch.
Their visit underlined the values that have defined this team: humility, respect and a genuine desire to give back.
