Another great day for the Ger and Jennifer Kenneally Southern/Carrigaline harriers trained Knockane Jack as she produced another sterling run to win the Mayfield Senior draghunt on Sunday.

The host club brought the slip forward to 10am in the interesting of hound welfare and on good open terrain the hounds managed to drive the hunt at pace.

When the hounds showed on the finish there were a few in with a chance of landing the spoils but the winner showed its usual kick on the finish to cross the tape ahead of the John O’Callaghan Northern Hunt trained, Applause.

Donal O’Donovan of Griffin United will be relieved to see the return to form of his ace hound High Miss who snatched third ticket.

After the draghunt the winning trainer praised the performance of his hound.

“Knockane Jack is always a threat when getting on the finish with the leading hounds and this win rounds off an incredible week for our kennel,” said Ger Kenneally.

In the Senior maiden draghunt the Mary Barrett Shaanakiel harriers trained Lewis Lass continued her recent form when getting up deny clubmate Mexican Jet with Casey Jack filling third ticket.

Jenifer Kenneally with Kniockane Jack of Southern/Carrigaline harriers winner of the Mayfield Senior draghunt also included Ger Kenneally and Ian Freyne.

The drop in temperatures was a might relief for the young hounds and yet another great evening for Fair Hill trainer Tristan O’Herlihy and his loyal family members sons Jayden and Ben with Olivia also in the party with Tim O’Callaghan.

In a driving finish their charge Starlight saw off the William Freyne and Ryan Duffy Clogheen trained One day at a Time with Mary Barrett’s Charlotte’s Lass of Shanakiel harriers snatching third ticket.

Christy and Marie Keating of Kerry Pike/Fair Hill harriers are going through a drought in the last few seasons, but My Girl have them a lift when finishing fourth ahead of Fireball and Putting on the Style.

What a season the O’Herlihy family are having and for the winning trainer it was another good night at the office.

“We had a few frustrating years, but this season has been good so far and all my kids are getting a good buzz which makes it all worthwhile,” said Tristan.

In the Puppy maiden draghunt Trina and Ken Long were jubilant when securing a 1.2 for the Southern/Carrigaline harriers club with Polar Bear and Gypsy Rock the only two other hounds to complete the course.

Apologies from last week to Ger and Jennifer Kenneally of Southern/Carrigaline harriers for incorrectly not naming them as trainers of Casey Jack.

Just when we were complimenting Zodiac Jack for her record in winning at the international in England and following up the following day at Whitechurch Casey Jack also competed at the international meeting but managed a third ticket at Whitechurch.

Well done again to all concerned.

Puppy trainers please note that the Mayfield Puppy Rerun draghunt will take place tomorrow at 7.30pm.
