Cork’s reward for their stirring return to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals is a meeting with Mayo, after Monday morning’s draw on RTÉ Radio 1.
The Croke Park showdown will take place this weekend.
For a Cork group that has rebuilt steadily across the campaign, the sight of their name in the last eight for the first time since 2023 is a marker of genuine progress.
The manner in which they arrive here – that superb victory over Donegal in Ballybofey last Saturday week – has injected real belief into John Cleary’s side.

The draw itself carried a brief twist. Cork were initially pulled out alongside Kerry, a repeat of the Munster final, before the correction was made and Mayo were confirmed as their opponents.
The Rebels avoided a second championship meeting with Kerry this year at the moment and instead face a Mayo team who, like themselves, have been gathering momentum.
Andy Moran’s side defeated Meath in Castlebar on Saturday evening in Round 3. They are spearheaded by Kobe McDonald, whose pace, movement and finishing have been central to their run.
Cork and Mayo are no strangers at this stage of the summer. Their most recent championship meeting came in 2023, when the sides faced off in Limerick in a group game in the All-Ireland series. Cork produced one of their standout displays of that campaign, winning by three points

Fixture details will be confirmed in due course, but the Rebels know they will be back on the Croke Park stage this weekend with a place in the semi-finals on the line.
Galway v Dublin, Cork v Mayo, Tyrone v Kerry, Louth v Monaghan.
