The final round of the McCarthy Insurance Group Football Leagues arrives where promotion, positioning and momentum remain in play heading into a decisive weekend.

With fixtures spread out, the most compelling storylines sit at the top end.

Division 1 delivers a full slate on Sunday with four clubs still in contention for a place in the league final. Carbery Rangers, Knocknagree, Clonakilty and Castlehaven are all level on 10 points, leaving the race finely balanced.

The standout fixture sees Carbery Rangers host Knocknagree, a direct clash that will shape the top of the table. Éire Óg meet Clonakilty, while Castlehaven welcome Douglas.

The relegation picture is just as tight. Douglas, Cill na Martra and Nemo Rangers are all on six points, with scoring difference separating them.

Crucially, Éire Óg and St Finbarr’s, both on seven points, are not yet safe and could still drop depending on Sunday’s results.

With the title race and relegation battle both on a knife-edge, Sunday promises one of the most consequential final rounds in recent seasons.

Division 2 has been wrapped up by Carrigaline’s midweek win over O’Donovan Rossa, a result that confirmed their promotion before a ball is kicked this weekend.

That victory removed the jeopardy from their trip to Castletownbere, which now becomes an opportunity to finish the campaign with a flourish.

Uibh Laoire remain top on 14 points and are safe regardless of Sunday’s results. Carrigaline sit just behind them.

Division 3 is where the real tension lies. Three teams remain in the hunt for two promotion places, and the margins are razor-thin.

Bishopstown lead the way on 12 points and hold the strongest position. They host Rockchapel and know that a win or a draw will guarantee promotion. Their form has been steady, and with home advantage, they will expect to finish the job.

Just behind them, Kanturk sit on 11 points and face a tricky away assignment against Fermoy. Kanturk have been pretty consistent all season. A win would certainly see them up; anything less opens the door.

That door leads straight to Aghabullogue who remain firmly in the hunt on 10 points. They host Bandon in Coachford and will need to win to apply pressure.

Buttevant are almost guaranteed to gain promotion from Division 4.
