RedFM Hurling League: Blackrock and Glen Rovers look to ease relegation fears

With just three rounds of fixtures left, the relegation landscape in Division 1 could become more clearer this weekend.
Currently, Killeagh and Fr O’Neill’s have two points each, with Carrigtwohill on four and Blackrock and Glen Rovers tied on five – but the city sides could remove any fears of the drop this week.
On Thursday night, Killeagh host the Rockies while on Saturday, Fr O’Neill’s travel to face the Glen; if the bottom two were to lose, then their opponents would be five off the bottom two spots with just two games remaining, reducing matters to a three-horse race.
Carrigtwohill will of course also be looking to put daylight between themselves and the trap door, though they face the tricky task of a derby clash with neighbours Midleton. The Magpies have won all six of their games to date and a seventh triumph would all but guarantee a league final spot with two games to spare, especially as two of the three sides tied on eight points in second place, Douglas and Sarsfields, do battle with each other on Sunday.

The other team in that chasing pack are St Finbarr’s and they are in action tonight as they are away to a Charleville side that are just two points back in fifth and could still reach the decider themselves.
