Eight Cork camogie clubs will join Glen Rovers for the Sarah Kate O'Meara Memorial Seven-a-side Tournament on Saturday to remember the Glen Rovers player who passed away unexpectedly two years ago.

Just 18 years old, Sarah Kate was a member of the Glen minor team. She began playing camogie in Glen Rovers’ underage academy in the footsteps of her twin sisters Emily and Isobel.

She progressed through the club ranks and continued to prosper to be one of the club's emerging stars. The competition will be played in the grounds where she loved to be in the thick of the camogie action.

Last year was the inaugural year of the tournament. It was run as an U20 event with Ballinhassig the first winner of the trophy.

This year, it will be a seven-a-side competition for adult teams and it is sure to be hotly contested. Ten teams will take part, Douglas, Ballinhassig, Courcey Rovers, Na Piarsaigh, St Catherine’s, Inniscarra, Blackrock and Sarsfields and two teams from Glen Rovers.
