Donal Mulcahy confident Cork minors can regroup after Tipperary loss
Cork's Sam Ring competes for possession with Tipperary's Conor Collins duirng their Munster Minor Hurling Championship in Semple Stadium.
Cork minor hurling manager Donal Mulcahy expects his side to respond strongly after last Friday’s Electric Ireland Munster MHC defeat to Tipperary.
Having opened with a win away to Waterford, the Rebels fell to a 2-17 to 0-16 defeat at FBD Semple Stadium last Friday night, with the home side scoring the last five points to pull away after what had been a close contest throughout.
With a break until their next outing, at home to Clare on May 1, Mulcahy backs his team to learn from the experience.
“These are young lads, they love being together,” he said.
“We'll get back on the horse and we'll have a chance to review things.
“Look, whether it's a week or two weeks, these boys are mad for road. They're a really good, honest bunch and they're very genuine.
“We really enjoy working with them and it’s given us the two weeks now to right the wrongs from tonight.”
On Friday, Cork trailed at half-time but moved ahead after a run of four points. However, Tipp’s second goal, scored by KJ Dunne was crucial.
“After that, they outscored us by 1-8 to two points in the last 15 minutes,” Mulcahy said.
“I think that wasn't a reflection of the game and we'd be disappointed with that.
“We didn't threaten a goal, but, look, other nights you might get those opportunities.

“But no, look, it's not the end of the world for us. We'll turn around Monday and we'll go at it again.
“Look, this is a round-robin series. We've said this from the outset and getting two points from two games on the road is a good return.
“We have two home games against Limerick and Clare. The first one up is Clare on the first of May and I think that's a big one for us.
“If you don't win your home games, you don't deserve to be in the Munster final. We'd be very confident that we'd turn things around.”
Tipp top the table with every county having played twice. Cork will hope to have captain Eoin Considine and Callum Coffey back in contention for their remaining two round-robin games and Mulcahy is optimistic.
“This is a very, very good Tipp team,” he said.
“They're a serious side, we knew that coming down here to play Tipp in our second game. It's a very tough challenge.
“We'll learn an awful lot from that. Tipp are rightly favourites for this but hopefully we'll have a cut off it again later on.”
