Former Cork footballer Cian Kiely has returned to Ballincollig after a number of years abroad.
He has rejoined the Ballincollig squad in recent days.
His departure came at a time when Ballincollig were undergoing a period of transition, and his absence was felt both on and off the pitch.
A versatile defender with a natural reading of the game, he had been regarded as one of the club’s most promising players, having also represented Cork at underage level and senior level.
His return now offers Ballincollig renewed depth and experience as they look to push on in a competitive McCarthy Insurance Group Premier SFC landscape.
They do have a very difficult group to contend with later this year where they will come up against Castlehaven, Clonakilty and new boys Knocknagree.
It will test Ballincollig’s strong record in the group stage. Since it came in before the 2020 campaign, the Muskerry side have only failed to qualify once, which was in 2021.

New Ballincollig manager Aidan Kelleher will no doubt be pleased to have someone like Kiely’s experience around in the dressing room.
The Muskerry outfit will look to have a strong McCarthy Insurance Group Division 2 Football League campaign this year.
They have four points on the board after three games with a home match against St Michael's next up this Saturday at 6pm.
