Tickets for the first three rounds of fixtures in the Munster SHC will be distributed through county boards, the provincial council has confirmed.

On Wednesday, Munster GAA confirmed the ticket distribution plan for the upcoming campaign, which begins on April 19 as Cork travel to take on Tipperary in a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland final while Clare take on Waterford in Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg.

Demand for all games is likely to be high – Cork’s last nine championship encounters have been sell-outs – and, with capacity around the 20,000 mark in Ennis while Azzurri Walsh Park in Waterford holds 12,000 or so, filtering tickets through county boards is seen as the most equitable method.

The statement from Munster reads: “Tickets for the first three rounds will be sold exclusively through county boards.

“This approach reflects the fact that four of the first six games are being hosted in smaller-capacity venues, while the other two games involve Cork, Limerick and Tipperary, with the first-round game between Tipperary and Cork being a repeat of last year's All Ireland final.

“Any unused or returned tickets from county boards will be released for public sale on the Wednesday prior to each game.”

While the counties will receive allocations for the last two rounds, there will also be a general sale of tickets for those games – Tipperary take on Clare on May 16, Limerick clash with Waterford a day later and then, on May 24, Cork host Clare while Limerick welcome Tipp.

This public sale will take place on Wednesday, April 6.

Season Ticket holders for the respective counties will be allocated tickets by the season-ticket team – queries regarding those tickets should be directed to seasonticket@gaa.ie.

A limited number of juvenile group tickets will be available for all matches apart from the games at Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg. Clubs can apply for Juvenile Group tickets via www.munster.gaa.ie/tickets from April 8, with with a maximum of 40 tickets per club (to include a maximum of six adults). Only one application per club will be accepted.

Admission to the round-robin games stay the same as last year, too: €35 for a stand ticket, €30 terrace and €5 for U16s while students and OAPs able to avail of a €5 discount.

Tickets for the Munster final, which takes place on Sunday, June 7, remain at €50, while terrace tickets are €35, down €5 from last year.
