BALLYPHEHANE CELTIC got their campaign off to a flying start in the Grandon’s Toyota First Division  with an eye-catching win over O’Brien’s Scaffolding in the match of the week at Crosshaven last Friday night.

With both teams testing the waters in the early stages, Conor Callaghan latched onto a long clearance from defence in the 26th minute to cross for Ryan Constant to score.

Craig Williams doubled the lead within two minutes of the resumption of the second-half when he turned in Aaron West’s corner at the far post. Six minutes later Sean Nagle was on hand to capitalize after Robert Tier’s looping cross came back to him off the keeper.

It would take a long range strike from Bohdan Krykunov to beat Celtic keeper Jamie O’Sullivan before Christopher Bowen scored the goal of the game in the 78th minute.

Marlboro Trust 4

Jay Bazz Barbers 2

Trust bounced back from the previous weekend’s shield defeat to the Weigh Inn to topple Jay Bazz.

After Marlboro’s Carlos Da Conceicao Silva and Barbers’s Eoghan O’Sullivan exchanged early goals, the visitor’s Kieran Forde and Trust’s Daniel Jaouhari did likewise inside the 73rd and 74th minutes.

In the final six minutes further goals from Silva and Jaouhari sealed the points for the hosts.

Here’s Health 5

The Weigh Inn Dripsey 1

Here’s Health put their exit from the shield group stage firmly behind them by hitting Dripsey for five at Mayfield Park.

An early double from Jack Murphy and Ken O’Brien set the hosts on their way with Murphy netting again on the stroke of half-time.

After Callan Dempsey added a fourth in the 72nd minute there was still time for Dripsey’s Jamie Torpey and O’Brien to exchange late goals.

Grandon’s Toyota Premier Division:

Cork Hospitals 1

Harvey’s were worthy winners in their encounter with Cork Hospitals taking a four-nil lead though an Aaron Cooney hat-trick, one a penalty, and a fourth from sub Ciaran O’Sulleabhain in the 86th minute before Kelvin Lynch grabbed a consolation for the visitors in the last minute.

DoMA Brazil Giants 2

The LAB 1

DHF Grangevale 3

Grangevale had to work hard for their first league win after first- half goals from Niall Kennedy and Corey Harris were followed by a second from Harris in the 49th minute.

Joshua Reddy reduced the deficit from a free-kick in the 73rd minute giving replacement keeper Harris, on for the injured Rob Osbourne, no chance.

Grandon’s Toyota Second Division:

Fisherman’s Rest Valley Rangers 4

Andy Sull’s Hair 1

Valley ran out comfortable winners in their home encounter at Conna courtesy of goals from Jack Murphy in the first and three in the second from Ben O’Connor, Tom Clancy and sub Jaoquin Almeida. Bryan Goulding had equalized early in the second-half for ASH.

Curry House Hungry Tigers 1

Pfizers FC 4

Cfa Carrigaline Celtic 0

Grandon’s Toyota Shield – Group B:

Arc Rovers 2

ePower 1

With all to play for to determine who would make it out of the group, Arc had to come from behind to a Daragh Bagnell Hartnett 35th minute opener for ePower to get the win needed to progress.

Second-half goals from Paudie Cotter and Adam Carroll inside fourteen second-half minutes turned the tie in Rovers’ favour.

FAI Junior Cup – Preliminary Round:

Doolan’s Cow 2

St Mary’s 2

(Doolan’s won 3-2 on pens)

A 94th minute equalizer from the irrepressible Tony O’Reilly gave Doolan’s a shot at a penalty shoot-out victory which they took with keeper Emmett O’Driscoll saving three of the five.

In the course of the ninety, Mary’s’ Daniel O’Shea and John O ’Sullivan had scored either side of O’Reilly’s first for the Cow.
