A new artificial intelligence platform, RúnAí, has been unveiled as a secure, multi-agent system designed to streamline how GAA, LGFA and Camogie members access official information.

Developed by Newry and Belfast based analytics firm ISx4, the platform aims to give administrators, coaches and analysts faster, more reliable answers by drawing exclusively from verified, internally governed GAA data.

RúnAí distinguishes itself from general purpose AI tools by using three specialised agents — Rules, Coaching and Statistics — each trained on a specific domain. The system allows users to ask natural language questions and receive concise answers linked directly to the authoritative source material.

Addressing a growing information challenge, GAA volunteers and staff often rely on extensive rulebooks, coaching manuals and historical match data. Locating the correct information can be time consuming, particularly when decisions or planning require quick clarity.

RúnAí is designed to solve that problem by providing summarised responses grounded in official documents, without re-interpreting or altering the underlying guidance.

The Rules Agent enables users to query official GAA, LGFA and Camogie rulebooks. Typical questions include how to prepare for a club AGM or how to process a player transfer. Each answer cites the exact rule or by law, ensuring accuracy and transparency.

The Coaching Agent enables coaches to generate tailored training sessions based on sport, age group, skill focus, squad size and available time. The agent produces structured, shareable sessions aligned with recognised coaching best practice.

The Statistics Agent provides rapid access to historical match data, including scores, scorers, teams, competitions and venues. It allows analysts and supporters to interrogate verified match records without manual searching.

All data used by RúnAí is curated by internal GAA, LGFA and Camogie business owners and stored within the GAA’s secure document repository. The platform runs entirely on GAA hosted cloud infrastructure, with no external data exposure.

If a user does not have access to a document, RúnAí cannot retrieve or reference it — ensuring the system remains permission aware and fully auditable.

RúnAí uses retrieval augmented generation (RAG), meaning responses are generated only from GAA owned documents rather than the public internet. Every answer can be traced back to a specific rule, drill or match record.

ISx4, the company behind RúnAí, specialises in analytics and AI solutions that help organisations move from hindsight to foresight. The firm delivers strategy, insights and support services to clients across Ireland and the UK.
