Castleview booked their spot in the third round of the AOH Cup after a victory over Corkbeg in the Leeside FC Astro facility over the weekend.

The View had to fight hard against their League 1 opponents, who squandered some chances themselves, but goals win football matches and when it came to finishing, the Premier side did not disappoint.

The Beg started with a very bright approach and in the opening minutes, Ashton Hannaway engineered an opening when he picked out the available Sean Williams, but the winger hurried his effort as he skewed across goal.

Then, from a corner, Sean Williams skewed another effort wide.

The Beg continued to enjoy a lot of possession now in these early exchanges and when Ray Savage reached Alan Hogan with his delivery, he blazed over from outside the box.

A great chance then fell for the Beg once again when Fionn Keohan played in Mark Hogan, but he lifted his effort over.

But, against the run of play, the View nosed in front when a delightful ball from Ciaran Dennehy found Daniel O’Donoghue, who picked out Wayne Buckley, with his cross to help home on 15 minutes.

The Beg gathered composure once again and a lovely pass into space by Ryan O’Regan had just too much on it for Alan Hogan.

And when Fionn Keohane found Ryan O’Regan in space, it took a very sharp tackle by Dalian Wall to prevent a goal-scoring opportunity.

But, it was all square again when a quick swivel in the box by Ryan O’Regan saw him find the net to restore parity on 25.

The League 1 side continued to have the edge now and after Alan Hogan’s turn-and-strike never bothered James Nagle too much, the View’s Ciaran Dennehy just got a vital touch on Alan Hogan’s cross which looked like finding its way to the in-rushing Ryan O’Regan.

The Beg’s work-rate paid off and they found themselves in front when Jordan Tynan slammed home unattended from Alan Hogan’s low assist to make it 2-1 on 33.

Corkbeg were winning the battle in midfield at this stage and when Mark Hogan knocked it on for Jordan Tynan, he slammed over from 20 yards.

Play shifted to the other end then and when Daniel O’Donoghue crossed into the box, Stuart Murphy hooked wide with his back to goal.

The final action then in a first half that saw the League 1 side edge was David Burke’s header from a long throw which went straight into the arms of Ray Savage.

The Beg got the second half off with a blistering strike from Jordan Tynan that whistled inches wide.

At the other end, it took a sharp intervention from Brian Roche to prevent Daniel O’Donoghue’s cross reaching the lurking Jamie Mason.

Mason threatened soon after when he controlled from a cross before drilling wide near the edge of the box.

An accurate cross then from Oliver Jordan came for Ryan O’Regan, but the Beg’s striker headed wide from inside the box.

Then, Alan Hogan produced a marvellous run down the right flank before sending an intended cross over for Ryan O’Regan, who stole a yard on his marker, but James Nagle just got there in the nick of time to save the day.

Minutes later, Nagle was forced to produce a sprawling save from Alan Hogan’s goal-bound effort.

It was all square again though on 63 minutes when James Green found Tristian Foley, off to the left, he produced an accurate delivery which reached Wayne Buckley to slam home to make it honours even again.

A great chance fell for Ryan O’Regan soon after, but he failed to adjust his feet enough to get a shot away.

The View found themselves in front when the ball nestled in the Beg’s net after a 50\50 challenge between Wayne O’Leary and Ray Savage on 75 minutes.

Then, the Beg were dealt a final blow when Wayne O’Leary crossed for James Green to produce a first-time finish of pure quality to make it 4-2 in the end to Castleview.
