Former Kerry manager Peter Keane has joined the Aghabullogue football management team, initially on a short-term deal, The Echo understands.

In what is a major coup for the Muskerry club, he will link up with his younger brother, Ray Keane, who is the manager of Aghabullogue.

The latter is the new Cork U20 football boss on a two-year term and his full focus at the moment is on the Rebels given their championship is starting in April.

With that in mind, a decision was taken to bring in Peter for a number of months to join the management team.

He’s meeting the players for the first time tonight. There’s a possibility that he could stay until the end of the season.

Peter managed the Kerry minor team to three consecutive All-Ireland titles between 2016 and 2018 and led the Kingdom seniors to the 2019 All-Ireland final, which they lost to Dublin after a replay.

He was most recently boss of the Clare senior football team for the 2025 season.

Aghabullogue won the McCarthy Insurance Group PIFC title last year as they joined the senior ranks in football for the first time.

Their first competitive game of the new campaign is this Sunday when they face Bishopstown away from home at 11.30am in the McCarthy Insurance Group Division 3 Football League.

In their McCarthy Insurance Group SAFC group later this year, Aghabullogue will face Dohenys, Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh and Kanturk.
