The first live coverage of the new season produced another high scoring draw over 90 minutes in the Grandon’s Toyota Shield – Group A tie at Mayfield Park last Sunday afternoon.
In the 17th minute, Matthew Ekhosuehi turned inside a couple of challenges out wide before passing to Colm Power and going on to receive the return and round the keep for the opening goal for the LAB.
Bryan Goulding was quick to react on the edge of the area to equalize for the returning ASH five minutes later.
Within three minutes Sean Murphy pounced on hesitancy by the LAB keeper to gain control of the ball to score from close range and put the visitors in front.
But the lead was cancelled out by Tim O’Shea in the 32nd minute when he fired in the fourth goal of an entertaining contest. Before spectators could draw their breaths, Dylan Nchankea put the LAB in front for a second time on the stroke of half-time.
A bizarre equalizer by Murphy right from the kick-off at the start of the second half when he lobbed the keeper would lead to a penalty shoot-out at the end of normal time which went ASH’s way 3-2.

What a match to begin the first Sunday of calendar football at Camden in the early kick-off.
Tadgh Whelan set the ball rolling for the Hospitals with a brace inside the first fourteen minutes.
OBS battled back to got 3-2 up by 57th minute after Sean Blake halved the deficit on the half-hour, Damir Busic levelled in first-half injury time and Rory Buckley netted a third.
After Whelan and Krykunov shared goals in the 79th and 88TH minutes, Kelvin Lynch put the hospitals ahead for a second time with two minutes remaining.
There was still time for Blake to take the tie to penalties, which OBS shaded 4-2, with a 95th minute equalizer.

Last season’s first division champions DoMA met last season’s premier winners and six time shield winners Doolan’s Cow at Gortnaglough Community Park last Sunday morning in the first of two eagerly awaited league meetings later in the season.
After Gabriel Do Nascimento fired the host’s into a 23rd minute lead, Liam Horgan crossed for the league’s highest aggregate goalscorer Tony O’Reilly to equalize twelve minutes later.
With four minutes the evergreen Jason Creamer popped up with the match winner set up by multi trophy winner Aaron Hennessy.

MHS got their shield campaign off to a flying with a comprehensive win over gallant debutants CFa Carrigaline Celtic at Camden.
First-half goals from Mark Jordan, Brazas Deividas, Ross Malone and Aaron Cooney were followed by second-half goals by Cooney (2), Malone,Chris O’Sullivan, Ray Delany and Steven Hawkes.

Abbey Business and Munsters DCT created history by playing the first match in the league’s first calendar season at Corinthians Park last Saturday lunchtime.
After Finn McIndoe opened the scoring for the visitors in the 12th minute, John McLoughlin set up Philip Horan for the equalizer just before the half hour mark.
Prolific McLoughlin went on to seal the three points from a penalty in the 68th minute.

Ballyphehane unveiled some their pre season signings including former DHF Grangevale treble wining goalkeeper of 2024/25, Jamie O’Sullivan, and raced into a six-nil lead by the 30th minute courtesy of Timmy O’Reilly (2), Ryan Towler, Ryan Constant, Conor O’Callaghan Michael Barry. After Aaron West added a seventh four minutes later, Tim Healy pulled a goal back from a penalty a minute later.
There was still time for O’Callaghan to score his second before half-time.
Second-half goals from Constant (2), West and sub Chris Bowen wrapped up a comprehensive win for James Corcoran’s charges.

In the 6.30pm kick-off at Mayfield Park, Helio’s superior fitness and technique led to a comfortable win for the visitors whose first-half scorers included Hugo Monteiro, Juan De Villa, David Marijuan and Ruben Sarasa.
Ivan Milicevic, Sergio Cailla Castano and Marijuan added further goals in the second forty-five.
