The 2025 Tom Creedon Cup final is taking place this weekend.

Knocknagree take on Naomh Abán at the Castle Grounds in Macroom on Sunday with throw-in at 12 noon.

It has all the makings to be a very interesting final in what should draw a large crowd, as this competition does every year for the decider.

The Tom Creedon Cup has been difficult to fit into the calendar these days with so much else happening in a short window, but it still retains the support to keep it going.

This year’s final was supposed to have been played on a couple of occasions prior to Sunday, but due to a number of different reasons, it wasn’t played.

Knocknagree will be looking to land the trophy for the second time in three seasons after claiming it in 2023 after a win over Macroom. The latter did get their moment in the sun 12 months ago after victory over Boherbue in the decider.

It ended their 27-year wait to lift the trophy named after one of their famous sons.

Knocknagree come into this final after winning the McCarthy Insurance Group SAFC after victory over Cill na Martra in the final back in October.

John Fintan Daly’s outfit defeated O’Donovan Rossa and Kilmurry to progress to this stage of the Tom Creedon Cup.

Those two games were played in July and August respectively.

The Duhallow side will look to the likes of Anthony O’Connor, Denis R O’Connor and Eoghan McSweeney to fire them to the clean sweep. They also won the Division 2 league title back in July.

Knocknagree’s opponents Naomh Abán ply their trade in the McCarthy Insurance Group PIFC ranks.

They fell at the semi-final hurdle for the second year on the trot after defeat to Aghabullogue once again.

The Ballyvourney men will be determined to end the season with silverware. They had shown great form back in the summer in this competition getting the better of St Vincent’s and the holders Macroom.

Forward Ed Myers, who is involved with the Cork senior football panel at present, will be Naomh Abán’s main attacking threat, if he features.
