Munster GAA have postponed their plans to seed Cork and Kerry in the 2026 Munster SFC.

It had been expected that there would be a change of format for the first time since 2015, but it will now be shelved until at least the 2027 campaign.

The provincial council had agreed at the end of July that the two top-ranked counties in the Allianz Football League would be placed in opposing semi-finals for a three-year period.

Eventual All-Ireland winners Kerry won the Division 1 league while Cork finished fifth in Division 2. Both were due to be kept apart in the upcoming Munster SFC draw on Thursday, November 27.

Many of the counties in Munster were opposed to the idea of a change in the format.

The Munster SFC draw for next year will be the same as it has been for a decade. The previous year’s finalists will earn byes to the last-four in an open draw. Winners Kerry and runners-up Clare will be seeded.

John Cleary's Cork will once more be in the quarter-final draw along with Limerick, Waterford and Tipperary.

Cork last won the provincial title back in 2012 and haven't appeared in the Munster final since 2021.
