Conor Corbett ruled out for lengthy spell after confirmed cruciate injury

Conor Corbett has been dealt a major blow, with confirmation that the Clyda Rovers forward has suffered a cruciate ligament injury.
The Echo reported on Friday morning that the Cork footballer had suffered a suspected cruciate injury.
The setback occurred during Wednesday’s McCarthy Insurance Group SAFC Group 3 opener against Kilshannig in Charleville, which Kilshannig won by two points.
Corbett had been in outstanding form, hitting 1-3 and causing constant problems for the opposition.
His goal came from a sweeping Clyda move that he finished emphatically, but as he landed, he twisted awkwardly and immediately required treatment.
Although he played on, further assessment has since confirmed the worst-case scenario — a repeat of the cruciate injury he sustained in 2021 and 2024.
It is a cruel development for Corbett, whose career has been repeatedly interrupted by serious setbacks since he captained Cork to the 2019 All-Ireland minor title.
Clyda Rovers now turn their attention to upcoming group fixtures against Éire Óg and Bishopstown without their star player.
