Cork Welterweight professional boxer Christina Desmond will make a swift return to the ring after she was just added to the packed card in a Conlan Sports and Hammer Promotion event at the Devenish Complex in Belfast on Saturday, November 8th.

Desmond only made her professional debut in a JD Promotion event at the National boxing arena in Dublin on the 11th of October, when she stopped Polish fighter Joanna Fraszczak in the second round of their four round bout.

This time the southpaw, who is based in Dungarvan, and works as a Garda, will be fighting in a bout scheduled for six rounds, however, her opponent hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The likeable Desmond has had a very successful amateur career with over 100 fights and won 19 Irish titles along with collecting medals in various European and World championships.

She showcased all her skills and toughness in her debut fight only a few weeks ago, when from the very first bell had Frasczak in all sorts of trouble with her quick combinations and heavy hands.

To be honest, Desmond could have got her opponent out of there in the opening round as she was so dominant, but she gave the referee no option early in the second round and the fight was stopped to save her opponent from taking more punishment.

Christina was always looking to get out as quickly as possible after her last fight and jumped at the chance to box again so quickly in Belfast and although she doesn’t know her opponent, she will be ready to put on another show for her supporters.

“I don’t have an opponents name yet, however, I kind of knew I would be on this show before my last fight in Dublin,” Christina said.

“I was very happy with the fight on the 10th of October.

"It was a huge experience and I loved it. The support I got was massive and I am delighted to be back out again in two weeks.

“I’m fit and ready and the sooner each fights come the better for me.

“I want to thank my Réalta Technologies in Ballincollig, Shane Sullivan Fitness in Cork and C & H Coaches in Cill na Martra.

“I will be boxing on the Conlan Sports and Hammer boxing Promotions show in the Devenish Complex in Belfast and to be honest, I can’t wait to get back in the ring.

“It’s not in my plan to fight a third time before Christmas, but I hope to be out again after in the new year, probably in February or March.

“I am still working full time as an active Garda in Dungarvan, so I am trying to juggle it all for now.

“My hope and dream would be a world title shot on a big card and put women’s professional boxing on the card as a female from and boxing out of Cork,” Desmond added.
