Manley stays on as Cork senior camogie manager

Cork County Camogie Board confirmed that  Ger Manley is to remain in charge of the senior side for the 2026 season.

As expected, Ger Manley is to remain in charge of the Cork senior camogie team for the 2026 team.

The Cork camogie board confirmed late last night that Manley was to remain at the helm for next season.

He has been involved for a number of years and was a selector in 2023 when Cork won the All-Ireland senior championship under Matthew Twomey.

Manley took over from Twomey in 2024 and led Cork to Munster and All-Ireland success in his first year in charge.

In 2025 they won the league title and were into the Munster final, which was never played due to the shorts v skorts debate.

They also reached the All-Ireland final in a bid for three in a row, but were somewhat controversially beaten by Galway in the final, with a number of key decisions going against the Rebels.

In a statement issued late last night the Cork Camogie Board said: “The Cork County Camogie Board wish to announce that, at their meeting tonight, they ratified the extension of Ger Manley’s appointment as senior camogie manager for the 2026 season.

“Having previously served in the backroom team, Ger was appointed as manager of the Cork senior camogie team in December 2023.

“Since taking charge, Manley has overseen a hugely successful period for Cork camogie. In his first season at the helm, he guided the team to All-Ireland glory in 2024. He followed that achievement by leading the Rebels to national league victory and to the All-Ireland final in 2025.

“The Cork County Board is delighted to confirm that Ger will continue in this role into 2026, as preparations begin for another season in Cork camogie.”

Reacting to the announcement, Manley said he was delighted to be taking charge of the team again in 2026.

“There is a magnificent bunch of players there and their dedication to the Cork is second to none,” said Manley, “we were gutted in the way we lost the All-Ireland final, and knowing these players, they will be determined to give it everything to put that right next season.

“I would also like to thank the county board and the management team over the last two seasons for all their hard work that doesn’t go unnoticed. Without them, we wouldn’t have enjoyed the success we have.

“I am looking forward to working with them again in 2026, and hopefully it will be another successful year for Cork.”
