Glen Rovers set up Junior A clash with Na Piarsaigh after extra-time win over White's Cross

Glen Rovers qualified for the next round of the AOS Security Seandún Junior A Hurling Championship Play-off series as they defeated White’s Cross before a sizeable attendance at Ballinlough.
It sets up a clash with great rivals Na Piarsaigh in the next round.
Scoring opportunities were at a premium for White’s Cross, while Glen Rovers played a more open game.
Jamie Corkery got the game’s first score for Glen Rovers within two minutes of the throw-in. Persistent fouling was proving to be costly for the Glen, as Eddie Coughlan slotted over two unanswered frees.
Conor Buckley, John McElhinney and Coughlan of White’s Cross each traded points with Glen Rovers’ Dale Tynan, Adam Lordan and Tomás Horgan, as the scoreline read 0-5 to 0-4 in favour of White’s Cross.
In the 20th minute, Ronan Healy of White’s Cross set up Cathal Quinlan for the game’s opening goal, to give their side a four-point lead.
Scott Cronin added a point from play for Glen Rovers and Horgan also converted their first free. Tynan and Corkery each added points from play, while Coughlan slotted over two frees for White’s Cross. This gave White’s Cross an interval lead of 1-7 to 0-8.
Jack Kennefick exchanged pointed frees with Coughlan, before Coughlan got the first score from play of the second half. Corkery exchanged frees with Coughlan, before James Murphy got Glen Rovers’ first score of the second half from play.
Tynan got two points for Glen Rovers. David O’Callaghan, Eric Healy and Horgan each added further points. Net-minder Josh Goulding also added a pointed free. Ruairí Quinlan replied for White’s Cross. Coughlan also added three points, including two frees.
With time almost up, Corkery gave Glen Rovers a lead of 0-18 to 1-14, before Coughlan forced extra time with a point deep into stoppage time.
In the first period of extra time, White’s Cross had points from play by Ronan Healy, Max Philpott and McElhinney. Corkery replied with 1-1 to give Glen Rovers a lead of 1-19 to 1-18, midway through extra time.
Glen Rovers outscored White’s Cross 0-3 to 0-2, with points from play by Corkery and O’Callaghan, in the final period. Corkery also converted a free, while Coughlan pointed two frees for White’s Cross.
