Brian takes Harte from progress as Kilmurry straight into Intermediate A Football semi-final

Brian Harte is at the helm as Kilmurry manager during what is a very fruitful period for the Muskerry club.
Last year saw Kilmurry claim the Cork Premier JFC title, before going on to claim Munster glory. A trip to Croke Park was agonisingly close for Kilmurry, who suffered the heartbreak of losing on penalties in the All-Ireland Club JFC semi-final.
Now well into the 2025 championship, the hunger for silverware is still very strong in Kilmurry.
On Saturday afternoon, Kilmurry booked their place in the semi-finals of the Cork Intermediate A Football Championship after recording a 2-11 to 0-9 victory over Boherbue.
Next up for Kilmurry is a clash with the winners of the quarter-final meeting between Gabriel Rangers and Ballinora.
Harte knows there is room for improvement but was relieved to push on in the second half against Boherbue last weekend.
“We are absolutely delighted, it was an unbelievable battle out there. I saw Boherbue playing inside in a county final last year that they were probably unlucky to lose.
“So we knew full well the challenge that we were going to face.
“But to be fair to our lads, we probably had a slow start, but finished very well. So I am delighted with the performance of the boys.”
Previous manager Cormac Linehan handed over the keys to the Kilmurry Castle to Harte with the Mid Cork team in a very healthy state.
Harte was manager of the Kilmurry U21 side that won Muskerry and county titles at B grade last year.
“I was asked to step up from the U21 team and I was proud to be asked.
Now Harte will plot a championship title challenge for Kilmurry at Cork IAFC level over the coming weeks.
“Momentum is a fantastic thing. There is nothing like winning matches to breed confidence.
"We have young lads there who are playing Intermediate championship football, that wouldn’t have been part of the setup last year because of their age. They have come on leaps and bounds in this setup this year.
“It is all very positive in Kilmurry GAA club at the moment and it is great.”
“We are where we want to be. It is going to come with its own challenges. Any team that is left in the championship at this stage will be serious opponents.
“We will take nothing for granted and we know that on a given day if we don’t perform, we will be in trouble with the teams that are left in this competition.
“So it is up to us to keep performing and keep driving on.”
