College Corinthians came away with their second win of the Daly Industrial Supplies U17 Premier League campaign on Saturday evening to put them on top of the table with six points from their opening two games.

Corinthians led at the half time break with a well-taken goal by Alex O’Herlihy in the 37th minute.

However, the hosts' netminder Jack Daly pulled off a string of wonderful saves to keep Mary's in it.

The home side were much better in the second half but Corinthians increased their lead through Eli Murphy-McKeon in the 76th minute after some great work by the Gary McCarthy Trophies Man of the Match Sean Fleming-Byrne.

They then finished the game as a contest two minutes later when substitute David Clark-O’Mahony got on the end of an O’Herlihy cross for a well-deserved victory.

The visitors tested Daly as early as the fifth minute of the game when Fionn Power floated in a dangerous free kick but the keeper got down to his right to push the ball away. The southsiders came close to the breakthrough nine minutes later.

Sean Fleming-Byrne played a delightful ball to the willing James McCarthy but Daly read the danger and rushed off his line to make a brave save at his feet.

In the 23rd minute, after a good build-up play, Alex Murphy treaded a neat ball to McCarthy but he saw his effort go the wrong side of the post.

Mary’s had their first real chance on the half-hour mark when Scott Trindles found a pocket of space on the edge of the Corinthians box but his powerful effort sailed narrowly over.

Corinthians took a deserved lead in the 37th minute. Fleming-Byrne won a good ball on the right wing and when he squared to Callum Murphy, he showed great feet to round his defender and calmly slotted his effort into the far corner of the net.

They came agonisingly close to increasing their lead a minute before halftime.

More great build-up saw Fleming-Byrne float in a superb cross for Eli Murphy-McKeon. However, his powerful head was somehow tipped away by impressive Daly.

Mary’s made a bright start to the second half with sub Marcus Lema making an instant impact and when he made a strong run into the Corinthians box he saw his effort go inches wide.

They had another half chance on the hour mark, Lee Hendley floated in a beautiful corner and it was met by Conor Casey, but his headed effort just went the wrong side of side of the post.

Fleming-Byrne then got behind the Mary’s back line but again Daly stood tall to make another fine save.

Corinthians didn’t have to wait long to double their lead. Fleming-Byrne did extremely well to dig out a superb cross in the 76th minute and Murphy-McKeon was on hand to power his header into the roof of the net.

Then Corinthians substitute David Clark-O’Mahony finished off another excellent move to wrap it up.
