Premier JHC reports:

· Ballygarvan beat Argideen Rangers in cracker but both teams move on

· St Catherine's overcome St Finbarr's test to book quarter-final spot

· Cloughduv breeze past Barryroe to secure knockout spot

Three first-half goals were the foundation for an impressive victory as Kilbrittain secured top seeding in the Co-op SuperStores Premier JHC with victory over Nemo Rangers in Group 2.

At Riverstown on Friday night, the West Cork led by 2-0 to 0-1 after six minutes, with Philip Wall setting up Conor Hogan for a green flag with just 73 seconds on the clock and the roles were reversed soon after as they struck again.

Mark Hickey was the architect for Hogan’s second goal and by half-time Kilbrittain were ahead by 3-12 to 0-5. Ronan Crowley also contributed on the point-scoring front for Kilbrittain, whose supremacy was never shaken in the second half, even if their scoring levels dropped.

Eoin Kelly had a goal for Nemo at the death as the game finished 3-20 to 1-10, with Shane Horgan top-scoring for them with five points.

Glen Rovers are the other team taking the direct route to the last four – they overcame the already-eliminated Meelin in Glantane by 1-25 to 0-18. Calvin Healy and Evan Murphy each scored seven points for the northsiders, who had a goal from Glen Kennefick while Nathan Goulding landed five points.

In Group 3, Tracton could have put themselves in a position to qualify had they beaten Milford in Mourneabbey, but instead the north Cork side avoided the relegation play-off as they won by 2-16 to 0-20. Tommy Curran got both of the Milford goals.

Instead, Meelin and Barryroe will play off to avoid dropping to junior A, while the semi-finals see Cloughduv do battle with Argideen Rangers while St Catherine’s go up against Ballygarvan.

Premier JHC – quarter-finals: Cloughduv v Argideen Rangers, Ballygarvan v St Catherine’s; Semi-finals: Kilbrittain v Ballygarvan/St Catherine’s, Glen Rovers v Cloughduv/Argideen Rangers.

Relegation play-off: Barryroe v Meelin.
