All of Cork's Munster SHC games set to be sell-outs

You wait 17 years for a Cork-Tipperary game to sell out and then two of them come along at once.

The tickets for this Sunday’s Allianz HL Division 1A final between Cork and Tipp at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh– which has the Division 1B decider between Offaly and Waterford on the card, too – were accounted for in swift time last week.

Now, the Munster SHC clash between the old rivals on Sunday, April 27 is also set to be played in front of a full house, as well as the meeting with Waterford at the venue on Sunday, May 25.

Tickets for the majority of the games in the provincial championship went on general sale on Wednesday at 12 noon and demand was high, as expected. No tickets for either of Cork’s home matches – or the trip to TUS Gaelic Grounds to face Limerick on May 18 – remain available to the public.

However, those left disappointed by the scramble may yet be satisfied as clubs in the county will receive allocations to be distributed among their members. All of the tickets for the opening game – away to Clare on Sunday week, April 20, in a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland SHC final – will be dispersed in this manner, due to the 20,100 capacity of Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg.

Prior to this month, the last sell-out at Páirc Uí Chaoimh took place in the last inter-county match to be played at the old venue prior to redevelopment, the 2014 Munster final when Cork beat Limerick. Capacity had been reduced slightly that day due to health and safety regulations.

The last Cork-Tipp game on Leeside to sell out was the 2008 Munster SHC game, when over-crowding on the terraces led to gates being opened and some supporters having to sit pitchside.
