The Cork senior camogie team will hold a ‘Family Night at the Dogs’ fundraiser in support of the Cork camogie players fund.

The race night will take place at Curraheen Park on Saturday, February 15 when the will be looking raise funds towards their training costs and a training week they hope to have in April.

In an appeal for support from companies and individuals they said: “We, the Cork senior camogie team, are looking for your support. On August 11 at Croke Park, we claimed a 30th All-Ireland senior camogie title for Cork.

“Our players show great dedication, commitment and give so much of themselves to represent our county. Every time we take the field, we strive to be active role models for every child and adult in Cork who dreams of playing for our county.

“We have had great success in our high-performance environment, and with success comes notable costs. We are now actively fundraising for the 2025 season.

“One of our fundraising events is a night at Curraheen Park. We would love if you, your company, or your organisation could donate to our fund.

“Your sponsorship donation will go towards a players’ fund that will support the team throughout the coming year, and will help the funding of a well-earned high performance four-day training camp in Portugal this April. All money raised will be split between the training camp fund and player welfare expenses, like food, physiotherapy, medical costs, travel, and training expenses.

“We would be extremely grateful if we could count on your support.”

Cork senior camogie team captain, Meabh Cahalane said: “We’re  looking forward to the upcoming fundraising event for the Cork senior camogie panel for 2025 on Saturday, February 15, at Curraheen Park.

“Last year’s event was extremely successful down to the generous support from both businesses and individuals which helped us to retain the O’Duffy Cup in 2024. Curraheen Dog Track has been so good to us over the past two years allowing us to run the event and it should be another great night.

“Every time we represent Cork we strive to be role models for any child who, like we did, dreams of playing for our county. We hope to see families and supporters, young and old, there on the night to help us for the year ahead.”

Cork senior camogie team manager, Ger Manley, has added his support to the event and was full of praise for the effort that all the players put in last year and he knows they will put in this year. “We’re looking for companies to sponsor races or from people, any support we can get at all would be greatly appreciated,” said Manley.

“And contribution we get will towards supporting the training fund for the year. This will be used in many ways, including cost like physios, food the players after training and lots of other hidden costs.

“We are also hoping to have a training camp abroad in April. They put in so much over the last couple of years and this is a chance for supporters or companies to show their support for the team who have won back-to-back All-Ireland championships.

“In fairness the camogie board do an awful lot for the team and we have to thank them, and others, for their support, but the costs of running an inter-county side are rising by the year.

“So I am appealing for anyone who can to sponsor a race, or buy a ticket and come along on the night to help these players have the best opportunity of having another good season,” concluded Manley. The cost for individuals to go along on the night is €10 per ticket for a cause well worth supporting.
