Ballincollig native John Dwyer has joined Carrigtwohill's backroom team as coach ahead of the 2025 campaign.
The former Cork minor and U20 hurling coach will work under manager Denis Walsh, a local man, who has taken over from John ‘Tweek’ Griffin, with the latter now in charge of the Kerry senior hurling team for next year.
After losing to the eventual winners Newcestown in the SAHC semi-final in 2023, Carrigtwohill ended up in the relegation play-off this year where they easily took care of Cloyne to avoid the drop to the third tier.
Dwyer will hope to get a tune out of this Carrigtwohill team, who were unlucky to end up a game away from losing their status this year. He was previously coach of the Ballincollig hurlers for the past two seasons as they fell at the semi-final hurdle on both occasions by a point against Kilworth and Carrigaline respectively in the PIHC.

Before that, he coached the Cork minor hurlers under boss Denis Ring to Munster glory in 2017. The Leesiders first provincial title at that grade in nine years. The team lost the All-Ireland final that year.
The pair then moved up to U21 level (now U20) where they helped the Rebels win the provincial crown in 2018 and ’19. An All-Ireland title would remain elusive having lost deciders in both of those seasons.
Despite their struggles this year, Carrigtwohill, who won the top grade championship of Cork hurling in 1918 and 2011, will be one of the fancied sides to go deep into the Co-Op SuperStores SAHC in 2025.
The Imokilly side face Fermoy, Na Piarsaigh and Killeagh in their group stage next year.
