Jack Cahalane has stepped away from the Cork football panel for next season according to The Southern Star.

It's a surprising move given Cahalane has been in fantastic form for Castlehaven in the last two seasons, helping the West Cork side win back-to-back Cork Premier Senior football championships.

The forward was particularly effective in the final this year against Nemo Rangers when he landed 0-3, all from play. He deservedly picked up the Player of the Match award for his display in the decider.

Seven players have now departed the panel including three retirements in John O’Rourke, Killian O’Hanlon and Thomas Clancy with Steven Sherlock and Damien Gore opting out for 2025. Kevin Flahive is travelling and will be absent for next year's campaign. This latest departure is another blow for manager John Cleary.

It will be a big year for the Rebels in 2025 as they try and challenge for promotion in the Allianz Division 2 football league.
