A rain disrupted weekend that saw three pivotal Premier Senior games postponed, there was inevitably a smaller crop of games to choose from, but still with no shortage of impressive performances across the weekend.

Dohenys put in an outstanding team display to defeat Cill na Martra, while St Finbarr’s got there in the end – but not without a stellar Ballincollig effort.

So here it is, the best 15 performers and eight substitutes after the weekend of football action in the PSFC, SAFC and PIFC.

Goalkeeper: Stephen Daly (Dohenys)

Making a crucial save to deny Danny Ó Connaill when his side were four points ahead, Daly’s stop helped Dohenys ensure they stayed in front and pushed on for victory.

Corner-back: Chris Kenny (Clyda Rovers)

A superb performance at full-back in Clyda Rovers’ relegation playoff triumph against Kiskeam, Chris was the standout defensive performer as the club won by five to preserve their senior status.

Full-back: Eamonn O’Callaghan (Rockchapel)

An excellent display despite coming out on the losing side, Eamonn O’Callaghan made sure Naomh Abán had to work hard for their slender win.

Corner-back: Daniel O’Riordan (Uibh Laoire) 1-0

As Iveleary upset the odds to defeat Bantry, O’Riordan put in a quality defensive shift, and even got forward to palm in a crucial goal as they won by six points and moved on to the PIFC semi-final.

Half-back: John Murphy (Macroom) 0-2

With two kciks between the posts and an impressive display at half back, Murphy was crucial as Macroom forced Ilen Rovers down to Premier Intermediate.

Centre-back: Michael Power (Bishopstown) 1-1

A tally of 1-1 for Power, the centre-back scored both of his taken shots and starred for Bishopstown in their defeat to Carrigaline.

Half-back: Daire Ó Loinsigh (Naomh Abán) 0-1

A stellar second half and a point from play at wing-back, Ó Loinsigh was key for Naomh Abán as they advanced to the semi-final.

Midfielder: Rhys Coakley (Dohenys) 0-3 (0-2 f)

With Dohenys at their best and looking like real contenders once again this year, Coakley put in a fine performance and kicked three scores as they defeated Cill na Martra by two goals.

Midfielder: Dermot Hegarty (Ilen Rovers) 0-2

Despite still being relegated to Intermediate A, Hegarty was on form for Ilen Rovers kicking both of his efforts between the posts as he impressed against Macroom.

Half-forward: Fionn Herlihy (Dohenys) 0-3

The third of four Dohenys men to make the team – Herlihy scored three from play and continues to be one of their most consistent performers as they aim to make up for the final defeat last year.

Centre-forward: Brian Hayes (St Finbarr’s) 1-2

A player who would normally expect to make the team for his hurling performances – Hayes scored an impressive 1-2 in the Barrs’ victory over Ballincollig, as they march on to yet another semi-final with Castlehaven.

Half-forward: Cian O’Sullivan (Clyda Rovers) 1-2

Another superb showing under the relegation playoff pressure – this time it was Clyda’s Cian O’Sullivan who scored 1-2 against Kiskeam – the exact difference in scoreline between the sides.

Corner-forward: Keith White (Dohenys) 0-5

Scoring five points, Dohenys’ Keith White was outstanding at corner-forward. His ability to keep the scoreboard ticking over helped halt Cill na Martra’s momentum, and he continues to shine in 2024.

Full-forward: Chris Óg Jones (Uibh Laoire) 2-4 (0-1 f)

2-3 from play is outrageous scoring in any circumstance, but even more so when you’re in a quarter-final against one of the grade’s favoured sides. That’s exactly what Cork senior Chris Óg Jones did, with this being his third Team of the Week appearance in four.

Corner-forward: Cian Dorgan (Ballincollig) 0-7 (0-2 f)

An inspirational showing from Cian Dorgan, he stood out as one of the best players this weekend. Kicking five excellent points from play, he showed up when Ballincollig needed him – though it wasn’t to be in the end.

Substitutes:

Liam Jennings (Ballincollig)

Sean Dore (Ballincollig)

Alan O’Connor (St Finbarr’s)

Seán Ó Fóirréidh (Cill na Martra) 0-4

Alan Quinn (Macroom) 0-6 (0-5 f)

John Wigginton Barrett (St Finbarr’s) 1-2

Conor Dunne (Bishopstown) 0-5 (0-3 f, 0-1 m)

Eanna Desmond (Carrigaline) 0-4
