It was Dohenys who had bragging rights this time as they beat their rivals O’Donovan Rossa to a knockout stage spot in this McCarthy Insurance Group Cork senior AFC meeting in a sunny Rossmore.
It means that the Dunmanway club will face Cill na Martra in the next round.
Mark Buckley, returning from America, was exceptional and a thorn for Dohenys particularly in the second spell. Along with Fionn Herlihy and Keith White, they proved to be the difference for the victors.
The defence deserves massive plaudits too as Eoin Lavers led the defence in a win that meant so much to their players and management afterwards.

Skibb did open the scoring as Brian Crowley split the posts as they brought serious fight to this derby game Herlihy then responded for Dohenys with a jinking run and point before Kevin Davis put Skibb back in front.
Three points in a row from Dohenys’ full forward Gavin Farr had them two to the good before Elliott Connolly and Crowley levelled it once more.
Farr and White put the Dunmanway boys in front again while David Shannon scored a scorcher for Skibb.
Fionn Herlihy then had two goal chances with his first being squandered after nice build-up play between himself and Buckley.
There was no missing the second opportunity however as Buckley and Oran McCarthy contributed to find the on-form Herlihy who buried it under Ryan Price, 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.
Skibb brought on three subs at the interval and certainly gave it a great rattle as their forward Crowley and Shane Barry from Dohenys swapped scores.
Rossa needed a win to progress and gave themselves a lifeline when a move involving Isaac Harte and Rory Byrne ended with Davis placing it to the net.
It was frantic after this with both sides getting nervous in front of the posts.
It was Buckley who shone brightest midway through the half with three class scores that involved hard work and super skill.
Two of those scores came in the space of a minute.
The first a boomer from long range and the second after he intercepted the Skibb kick-out before applying the finish too.

It was Dohenys’ super sub-Aaron Mannix who provided the killer blow though As he ran through, White played the perfect ball into him before Mannix fired it into the Skibb net, 2-12 to 1-8 with eight to go, game over.
Skibb did try their utmost right till the end, but it was Barry, White and the influential Buckley who finished off a big win.
