The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship game between Kanturk and Midleton was called off on Sunday afternoon due to a medical emergency.
A member of the crowd at Castletownroche GAA grounds was taken ill and required treatment after eight minutes of the contest.
Both teams had a doctor on the sideline and they were first to respond, while the venue was equipped with a defibrillator.
The pitch was cleared and an air ambulance called from the nearby Rathcool Aerodrome which landed within 10 minutes of being contacted.
Shortly after 4.30pm, referee Niall Fahy returned to the field to sound the full-time whistle which was greeted by applause from the crowd.
Two more ambulances attended the scene and the spectator was transferred by road to Cork University Hospital just after 5pm. Two Garda cars also arrived to provide assistance.

A Cork GAA statement read: "Kanturk v Midleton has been postponed due to a medical emergency. Our thoughts are with those involved.
"Details of a refixture will be announced in due course"
The score at the time had Kanturk 1-0 to 0-2 ahead with Cork footballer Paul Walsh netting a fine solo goal in between two Conor Lehane frees.
Next weekend is free in the fixture calendar apart from two divisional finals, where Duhallow meet Muskerry on Friday and then Imokilly take on Muskerry on Sunday.
The final round of group games is scheduled to take place the following Sunday, September 8, when Midleton are slated to face Erin's Own and it's Kanturk-Charleville.
Midleton and Kanturk are in the top two places of Group 3 ahead of Erin’s Own, who are also on two points but have played two games, and Charleville, who lost to Erin's Own on Sunday after an opening-game defeat to Midleton.
