CORK professional boxer Tommy the Governor Hyde stopped his American opponent Noah Kidd in the fourth round in a Super Middleweight fight at Mohegan Sun Casino, Connecticut in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Tommy came into this bout unbeaten with a eight wins with six coming by way of knockout, however, his opponent Kidd was a big step up from his previous opponents as he shared the ring with former Olympic Champion Daniyar Yeleussinov and former World Champion Sergio Martinez. However, this didn’t faze Hyde as he produced probably his best performance to date and had to withstand Kidd’s impressive first round, but he soon got behind his jab to control the pace of the fight.
The opening round, Kidd came out swinging and full of energy, however, Tommy never panicked and used his footwork to cut down the ring.
He used his left jab with efficiency so he could try control the pace.
Tommy’s game plan was to keep going to his opponents body with his trademark right hook to try sap Kidd’s energy.

In the second round Hyde, started on the front foot using different combinations to the head and body and in the second minute he rocked Kidd with a thunderous right hook to the body.
Hyde continued to pile the pressure on his opponent, however, Kidd showed all his experience to survive the round.
The third round Kidd showed more aggression in the opening round and Hyde had to go back to his boxing skills by working behind his jab to comfortably control the round.
Hyde upped the pace at the start to the fourth round and had Kidd on the canvas early in the second minute with a powerful right hook to the body.
Kidd survived the count to continue, however, Hyde smelled blood and left his hands go to floor his opponent again.
This time with a nice combination to the body and a over the top punch to the head for the referee to stop the fight.
Tommy is now nine fights unbeaten and he hopes to be back in the ring in August in Australia.
“I am delighted with my performance and victory tonight as I was up against a very experienced fighter,” Tommy said.
“He (Kidd) was a tricky guy but I kept to my game plan and discipline to get the job done.
"I came close to getting him out of the ring in the second round, however, he showed all his experience to survive.
"As once I knew I hurt him my confidence grew, but I couldn’t get carried away.
“I will now have a couple of weeks off Stateside before I start training camp again hopefully for a fight in Australia sometime in August," Tommy added.
