AT the sound of final whistle, the RTÉ commentator Marty Morrissey summed up the Cork performance as awesome in every sense of the word as the fanatical fans streamed on to the Thurles pitch.

Returning to the studio guest was the former Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy but was very sporting in his take of the Cork performance.

“Ah look this Tipp team has had some success in the past but when you are outscored 3-15 to 0-9 in the second half after a promising first you cannot have any excuses,” he said.

Sheedy further compliment the movement of the Cork team.

“When Cork are in full flow, they are a serious team as they have pace all over the field and for any defender these forwards must be a nightmare to mark,” he added.

The former Tipp boss believes his county have some serious work to do.

“Look I am not going to criticise management or players as this is a tough day for Tipperary hurling but the only consolation, they have is that they came up against a Cork side who were basically magnificent on all fronts.”

The decorated former Galway star Joe Canning was also in the mood to praise the Rebels display.

“I think today we finally witnessed Cork playing as a team as I seen in years gone by their forwards were taking their own scores and not trying to go for goals.

“When you look at Patrick Horgan’s goal Shane Barrett could have tapped it over for a point with the game over as a contest, but he kept going and drew the man before assisting Hoggy.

“In my book that end of their game was missing in recent years as you would often question were they playing as a team but in the last couple of games they have looked the real deal.” How a few minutes can change your season according to Canning.

“Last week at Pairc Ui Chaoimh they were going out of the championship, but they stuck at it and now who knows we might see them in a Munster final depending on results.”

Liam Sheedy continued with his praise of the Cork scoring machine.

Any team that scores 11 goals and 107 points in a Munster championship over four games is an incredible feat and to me when they are on their game, they are a serious outfit.

“Cork could easy be on eight points from four games, but they are four but when you think they had a man sent off in their opening two games.

“Believe me no team will be happy playing Cork in this championship and you can see with the support they brought here to Thurles that the belief is back on Leeside.”
