Cork cyclist, 16, dies in crash with parked lorry

A teenage cyclist from Cork died in a collision with a parked lorry in Lismore, Co Waterford, on Tuesday morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal road traffic collision involving a parked lorry and cyclist, which occurred in Ballygalane shortly after 11am on Tuesday.
The cyclist was fatally injured and was pronounced deceased at the scene, a garda spokesperson said.
He is believed to be 16 years of age and from near Fermoy, Co Cork.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured in the incident, which saw the road closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.
Road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling on the N72 between Lismore and Cappoquin, Co Waterford, between 10.30am and 11.15am on Tuesday, June 16, are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
