MTU Cork GAA Club has announced a new sponsorship deal with Clearstream which encompasses two new scholsarships.
Clearstream, a leading global post-trading services provider, is one of Deutsche Börse Group’s branches in Cork and provides hedge and mutual fund custodian services for over 50 major financial institutions with positions in over 25,000 hedge funds. The company employs more than 500 people in Cork.
As well as their logo adorning the jerseys worn by the MTU men’s and women’s teams in inter-varsity competitions, Clearstream will support the university’s student athletes by providing financial assistance to two deserving student athletes to enable them to pursue their academic and athletic aspirations.
The partnership is also committed to enhancing MTU Cork’s existing programmes and strong commitment to the education and social inclusion principles promoted by the institution and to making all aspects of the GAA accessible to all.
Kevin O’Callaghan, MTU Cork’s GAA development officer, welcomed the new development.
“MTU Student GAA Club is delighted to have Clearstream as our sponsor for the year ahead,” he said.
“We share similar organisational values and look forward to developing a relationship that will benefit us both this year and in future years.
“Our teams will wear the Clearstream logo on our home and away jerseys with pride.”

David Brosnan, Clearstream’s Cork branch manager, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership.
“At Clearstream and the entire Deutsche Börse Group, we see our global commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as a responsibility driven by local initiatives,” he said.
“The partnership with MTU allows us to make a direct contribution to our community in Cork, and we all look forward to cheering on the MTU GAA teams.
“We will continue with our commitment to nurturing our strong relationship with MTU in creating valuable internship experiences which allows students to get hands-on experience, mentorship and exposure to our culture, social responsibility and charitable endeavours.
“In turn we have seen enthusiastic and motivated students return as graduates to continue their personal and professional development.”
Dr Áine Ní Shé, MTU’s registrar and vice-president for academic affairs, sees the partnership and scholarships as major positives.
“We thrive as a progressive university thanks to private support from companies like Clearstream partnering with MTU,” she said.
“They contribute positively to our community and, as we look forward to the positive impact of this strategic partnership, we hope that this collaboration encourages other organisations to join us in supporting our community and succeeding together.”
Those views were echoed by Elise Wynen Hennebry, fundraising executive with MTU.
“We are delighted for the support extended by Clearstream to our Cork student GAA club,” she said.
“Both MTU and Clearstream are committed to fostering a long-term relationship focused on promoting excellence in sports, inclusivity, and community engagement.”
